In the place of nations, factions emerged.
These were collectives of Siphers who united based on a shared philosophy about the world around them, and their place in it.
Although Sipherian factions were as numerous as the blocks themselves, three factions are particularly influential.
The Maximalist Templars are Siphers who believe it is their sacred duty to explore and tame the vast wildernesses of Sipheria, to plan their flag on every world in this new universe.
The Arcane Order theorise that understanding Sipheria is of primary importance, and dedicate their lives to the study of the natural and unnatural phenomena observable in this new world.
The Shade Syndicate seek freedom and liberty above all else, and focus primarily on increasing the individual wealth and powers their members. These three factions exerted the most influence in Sipheria society and the possible paths taken by new Siphers.
By joining one of these factions, new Siphers can access resources and information that would be had to come by if they operate as individuals. But in exchange, Siphers who join these organisations are often issued quests, missions and tasks. Furthermore, they are encouraged to establish themselves on worlds that their factions have influence and control.
Descendants of the Knights of the Templar, this organization seeks total dominance for the sake of stability. This is often put before innovation and exploration, sometimes even before adventure. For the Templars, their beliefs are seen as worth pursuing for the sake of the greater good.
As devout believers in their purpose, Templars spread their doctrine across the universe through all means and methods available to them. They will bring devastation to all who publicly oppose them, while the most loyal supporters receive their unwavering support.
Earth background: Ex-Financiers, Ex-Politicians, Political Scientists.
Being right justifies the means, and Templars will not stop until their goals have been achieved and their enemies destroyed. Templars are the last to give up a fight and the backbone of all establishments.
Priotizing scientific research and exploration, sometimes at the cost of resources and nature, the Arcane Order operates through a central governance body that directs their mission to further the influence of cryptography in Sipheria.
Conservative and methodical by nature, they plan for the long term, with a peer-reviewed multiple viewpoint approach to decision-making and progress.
Earth background: Professors, Scientists, Researchers.
The Arcane Order is always present at mining sites and labs, looking for ways to improve efficiency and to get the most out of each new world. They always generate more wealth and resources to justify the high price paid by the contractors who hire them.
Little is known about the Shade’s origin, but those who have dared to speak of them soon discover that their days are numbered. The Shades operate from the shadows and tend to influence the world through disguise and double-speak. Their true goals are still a mystery however one thing is certain, they are here to dominate and lay claim to Sipheria.
Earth background: Gamblers, Traders, Speculators.
Shades are always the first to arrive at ruins, caves and other dangerous locations, risking their lives in exchange for the possible spoils and riches they might obtain. Shades are highly sought after because of their ability to extract large quantities of valuable resources due to their experience and the risks they are prepared to take, qualities that many other block owners lack.
